Famous spots in Stockholm

Probably the most famous area of Stockholm is the Gamla Stan in the Old Town. This is a must see on any trip to Sweden. Buildings date back to the 1700s and their winding streets are preserved all the way back from the Medieval Times, so much so it’s almost as if you time traveled back to that era. The Royall Palace is located in the same area and is the largest Palace in the world. Although it is still occupied the head of state King Carl XVI Gustav, it is still open to the public to view the royal apartments and state hall first hand. Another famous building to visit is the City Hall. It is a beautiful brick building dates back towards the beginning of the 1900s and is filled with elegance and history. From the floors to the ceiling, the City Hall is detailed with structure and art. It is also home to the famous Nobel Peace Prize ceremonies.
The Stockholm archipelago is one of the most beautiful sites in Stockholm and stretches over 80 kilometers of rocks and islands. This is also within the same area of the Royal Palace and City Hall. Many of these islands have restaurants and stores, while others are full of beautiful green fields. Some islands are even deserted. Over the years about 150 historical buildings have been moved to Skansen in Stockholm from nearly every part of Sweden. These buildings date back from the 1800s and 1900s.

Among these historical buildings include The Biological Museum. This museum is home to vast collections of Scandinavian mammals and birds in their natural habitat. Architect Ferdinand Boberg contributed to the area with The Boberg’s Generating Station which was built in 1905 and provided Djurgården with electricity. Boberg’s Observatory is a great place to visit with the family. The planets in the solar system have been laid out in rings and wraps around the building to give it an appropriate setting. The Yellow House and Sagaliden are located in that area as well. These two buildings date back to the 1800s and 1900s. The Yellow house was home to John Burgman built it for his own l household which carried fifteen people at the time. The Sagaliden is home to the director of Skansen. Stockholm, Sweden is full of rich history and they have beautiful architecture to show for it. No matter where you go you are sure to find wonderful places to cite see and get to know the city really well.
