Tees in Stockholm

Sweden may have fostered some great golfers, but for a lot of Swedes, the word Tee is first and foremost associated with clothing, and not with Jesper Parnevik.

Stockholm is one of the fashion capitals of the world, albeit far from New York and Paris. There are no big fashion houses yet, though Acne is well on their way to become one. Instead, there are many smaller design communities, and many of them print t-shirts.

One of the more popular during the last ten years have been Fienden (the Enemy) who print highly limited t-shirts (50 copies of each print) portraying sect leaders, forklifts, rats and a female Vladimir Putin. A few years ago, everybody working within the media industry in Sweden (which has been a popular trade since the days of Strindbergs first novel) owned at least one Fienden t-shirt. Interest for the brand has diminished somewhat in Sweden, but if you are looking for original, limited prints, in a language that few people understand, Fienden is a brand to look out for.

The reason Fienden are not so known abroad might be that they do not make jeans, at least not yet. Brands like Acne and Nudie have created quite a stir in France and the UK, and they do make t-shirts as well.
